Scenic Sayings - Two Ways!

Hello friends!  I know I declare everything to be my favourite, but seriously... I love it all so much that my "favourite" is usually whatever I have my hands on that day!

That said, though, I'm having a maaaaajor love affair with the Scenic Sayings stamp set and Serene Scenery DSP stack.  Like, big time.  it is so dreamy and lovely and perfect!

There is a little vellum treat bag in the catalog that I was head over heels for, so I decided to recreate it into a card this week.  It's virtually the same style, but a card instead of a bag - so easy to modify a great project this way!

And while I had all of those goodies out, I whipped up another card with the same paper stack and stamp.  It's such an easy, versatile sentiment that it can be used for anything and everything.

I just adore the soft, natural patterns of this paper - and they pair so beautifully with so many of the embellishments!  Total must-haves!

Have a super day!

Cheers,
Shannon

Super Simple Spinning Space-Card!

Good morning, friends!  Let's wake up this morning with something super-simple - nice and easy for a Sunday morning!

Have you used the Sliding Star Framelit Dies?  They are SO fun.  I'm pretty much in love with them, and there are going to be a lot of spinners in my future!  This was the first one I whipped up.  And let my mistakes become your tips - read on!

The stamps in Shooting Star are SO cute, and paired with the Sliding Star Framelits, you can make some really cool interactive cards.  As I said, though, I learned a few things NOT to do when I made this card!

A few quick and easy tips to make your spinner cards a success -

  • When you cut out your track, keep the "track" piece until you assemble your card.
  • Place all three pieces back together - the main piece, the "track," and the inside circle - and set them down on your card.  Use the "track" piece as a guideline to place your outside and inside pieces exactly even.  If you don't - as I didn't - your spinning embellishment will get stuck.
  • Use dimensionals sparingly and toward the outside edge when adhering your outside and inside pieces.  You don't want the spinning part to hit them on the way around.
  • Slip a small coin or washer under the track, then trim a dimensional into a smaller cicle and place on top.  Adhere embellishment to top of dimensional.  There is no need for a second coin or washer on top of the dimensional.
  • Don't place any banners or embellishments over the track, like I did here - or if you do, know that your spinner will get stuck and not be able to spin past them.
These cards are SO much fun, and anything can be a spinner - don't limit yourself to just the coordinating stamp set!  I have another fun spinner card I've whipped up that I'll be sharing shortly.

Have a fabulous day!

Cheers,
Shannon

Miss you, my love!

Hello, friends!  It's been a rough week.  You know when just about EVERYTHING seems to go wrong?  It's so frustrating.  I'm up to my eyeballs in stress and I'm ready for some reprieve.

On the upside, I did get almost an entire day locked in my craft room this week, which was a nice treat.  Mama needed some "me" time.

I'm really having a bit of a love-affair with this year's DSP.  I typically use patterned paper veeeery sparingly, but not lately... lately, it's been taking centre stage.  This card uses another design from the same stack as the last card - A Little Foxy - and this Smoky Slate and Whisper White pattern is much softer than the last one.  Oh, that stack is so lovely.  I thought I would use the colours more, but the grey patterns have edged their way to the front.

This pretty combo of Watermelon Wonder, Pool Party, and Daffodil Delight can be softened with a lot of white space - it makes for a more subtle look and takes the "punch" out of the bright colours.  Perfect for a softer sentiment, like this one.

Thanks for popping in today - I hope you have a fabulous weekend planned.  See you soon!

Cheers,
Shannon

Buzzing by to say hello!

Hello friends!  Happy Monday... I hope your week is off to an amazing start!  It's shaping up to be a beautiful week here in Calgary, which is much needed after the monsoon-like rain we've had recently.  My garden is grateful for the water, but we are all needing some sunshine these days!

Today's card is a simple one that would be perfect for any special person in your life, young or old.  I love the little bee in the Shooting Star stamp set, and it was so fun to create some sparkly vellum wings for him!  The "A Little Foxy" DSP stack has a great set of grey and white prints, and this bold stripe was a favourite.

I love that this stamp set includes the large bee and the tiny one - so cute to stamp some little details in the background!

Thanks for popping in today!  I'm off to get ready for a stampin' event tonight - can't wait!

Cheers,
Shannon
